Spa days, The Ocean Club, Seahouses

Over the years I have been to several spa days in the north east of the Uk. Mostly I've been with my mum, but I've also been with my husband.

Spa days usually consist of use of the facilities (pool, jacuzzi, steam or sauna, sometimes a gym), somewhere to relax, a treatment (some kind of massage) or two and usually a light lunch.

I went to one yesterday at the Ocean Club in Seahouses, Northumberland with my mum, it was a deal for two people and was a christmas present from my dad.

For £99 we got use of the facilities (swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room, and sauna), a welcome hot drink and tea cake, a light lunch and an hour long massage. We also got use of a robe, towels and slippers. That was £99 between the two of us, so it was a really great deal.

After our drink and tea cake, we went to use the facilities. The pool is about medium size, but is quite shallow. It's the same depth everywhere, and is 1.2 meters. It's adequate for a quick swim, and is popular with the locals, although I think it could get quite crowded in summer. The jacuzzi was nice and warm, and is next to the steam room and sauna. Under 16s arn't allowed in this area, which I think is a good idea. There are sun loungers in here, and we sat and read for a bit.

Lunch is in the cafe, and we had a jacket potatoe with a small bottle of prosecco, followed by sticky toffee pudding. It was nice, and we sat around there in our dressing gowns.

The spa treatment room is suitably dark and relaxing, you can sit in here through the day if you want. There are a few treatment rooms, and me and my mum had our massage at the same time. It was a shoulder, neck and head massage followed by a hot stone facial. It lasted about an hour. I really enjoyed it and found it relaxing.

My mum and me did have a conversation about how it compared to other places we have been to locally, and we both agreed it was one of our favourite spa days. The staff there are really lovely, the facilities are great, and the massage was relaxing.
